Bronx Living Legend: Luz Soliz - Abéimahani Singers
The Bronx Living Legends series honors and celebrates accomplished Bronx artists who have made outstanding contributions to their artistic field and to their community.
On March 23, 2019, the Bronx Music Heritage Center honored Luz Soliz for her work as a champion of Garifuna culture through music, dance, and language. Ms. Soliz is particularly known for her well-established dance troupes including the Wabafu Garifuna Dance Theatre. Here, Abéimahani singers perform. Abéimahani are traditional Garifuna solidarity songs performed a cappella by women.
