Virtual Access Family Program: Full Steam Ahead! @ The Intrepid
Explore how the crew of the massive Intrepid aircraft carrier kept it moving, and go behind the scenes with a virtual reality look at its engine and fire rooms! This Access Family Program welcomes individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, alternating monthly between virtual and onsite sessions on select Sundays.
Inspiration Academy- Engineering without Fear: The Importance of Failure @Intrepid Museum
Join us for a virtual professional development program that explores how to support students when "failures" happen, using the Next Generation Science and Engineering Practices and the Engineering Design Process. Learn how to frame "failure" through social-emotional learning, hear from engineering professionals, and engage in an interactive workshop to enhance your teaching strategies.
This course offers 4 CTLE credits. Registered participants will receive a program link before the event. Virtual check-in starts at 8:45 AM EST. Note: materials are not provided.
Coding Together Mini-Hackathon @ Intrepid Museum
Calling all budding coders in grades 6-12! Join us for the Intrepid Museum’s annual Hackathon, where you'll learn, code, and create exciting projects with fellow future programmers. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, come solo or with a team to tackle challenges in various coding languages. Enjoy a fun day of learning with breakfast, snacks, and lunch provided. Virtual Astro Live: Europa Clipper

Sensory Friendly Evenings: The Submarine Growler
Submarines are one of the most unique experiences in the Navy! Explore the submarine Growler and the A View from the Deep exhibition to learn more about the adventures and challenges of life underwater.

Teen Civics Event @ Intrepid Museum

Hear inspiring stories from crew members aboard the Intrepid who exercised their right to vote, and find out how you can do the same!
History & Innovation: Women in the Military @ The Intrepid
This month, the Intrepid Museum and the Metropolitan Opera have teamed up for a behind-the-scenes program featuring its newest opera, Grounded. A special performance begins the evening, followed by a panel discussion featuring decorated female officers and artists reflecting on how work affects their domestic life, the roles of service to one’s country and one’s home, and the challenges of volleying identities between service and domestic life.
Free Movie Night: Moonfall at Intrepid Museum 8.23.24
In connection with the Museum’s newest exhibition: Apollo: When We Went to the Moon, all of the movies this summer will feature stories about humankind’s exploration and fascination with the Moon. Enjoy views of the Hudson River and city skyline while screening the classic film on the flight deck.
Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets to view the film outdoors, free of charge, on a huge inflatable screen on the flight deck.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY @ Intrepid Museum
Join the Intrepid Museum for a Memorial Day ceremony honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in defense of our nation. Civic and military leaders will offer remarks and join in a special wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the fallen. The ceremony concludes with veterans unfurling a 100-foot U.S. flag, the playing of Taps, and a flyover by Navy fighter jets.
Summer Movie Night - Top Gun Maverick @ Intrepid Museum
The Intrepid Museum’s summer movie series kicks off Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 24, with a free screening of Top Gun: Maverick! Enjoy views of the Hudson River and city skyline while screening the classic film on the flight deck.
FLEET WEEK: MAY 24-27 @Intrepid Museum
Throughout the weekend, enjoy musical performances and explore a variety of displays, activities, and demos from the military, including the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Naval Research and many more! The weekend will conclude on Monday, May 27, with the Museum’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.
All activities on the pier are free to the public.
KIDS WEEK @ The Intrepid Museum
During Kids Week, children of all ages and interests will learn about STEAM through fun-filled activities, NASA displays, exhibits, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests, and interactive demonstrations designed to educate and inspire.
Access Family Program: Adventures Aboard @ Intrepid
Find out why Intrepid was a “city at sea” and learn about the sailors’ many different jobs aboard the ship! Visit spaces where sailors ate, slept and worked, and celebrate the important contributions of Intrepid’s crew.
Check-in begins at 10:30am. Please arrive before 11:00am in order to participate in the full program.
Looking for a program for older visitors? This program will be offered again from 2:00 to 4:00pm for teens and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Register for the teen and adult program here.
EARLY MORNING OPENINGS: FUN & GAMES @ Intrepid
Life on the aircraft carrier Intrepid was hard work, but sailors still found ways to have fun! Explore Intrepid to find out how sailors had fun while at sea and make connections to your own favorite games and experiences.

After a cosmic journey, it brought back a sample of stardust and rocks in September. Now, our scientists are on a mission to unravel the secrets of early planetary formation and decode the cosmic recipe of asteroids that might just spice up Earth's future!
Build it, Sail it, Fly it! @ Intrepid Museum
Figure out how airplanes and ships are assembled and maintained. Learn about the tools used by aircraft restoration specialists at the Museum, and practice building your own designs.

Honor Veterans’ Day by learning more about the experiences of U.S. Navy sailors aboard Intrepid and submarine Growler.

Coding together MINI-HACKATHON @ Intrepid Museum
Have you ever wanted to be a coder but did not know where to start? Or you know the code but want to improve or focus your efforts. Teens and youth in grades 6-12 with any and all coding experience are invited to learn, program and develop projects at the Intrepid Museum’s first-ever Hackathon! Meet fellow future coders and work together to solve challenges using different coding languages. Sign up in groups, or come explore on your own. No experience is required to join!
FILM SCREENING WITH Q&A: VIETNAM: THE SECRET AGENT @ The Intrepid Museum
This 1984 film documents the extraordinary history of chemical warfare, agricultural herbicides, damage to the world environment, and the plight of Vietnam War veterans and their families as they struggle for treatment of exposure to Agent Orange and dioxin.
Astronomy Night 9/29/23 @ The Intrepid

Astro Live @ Intrepid
In October 2023, NASA’s Psyche Mission is slated to launch toward a unique asteroid that may hold the secrets of Earth’s own formation. Part of NASA’s Discovery Program focused on planetary science, the Psyche spacecraft will take its six-year journey to the asteroid belt via solar-electric propulsion following a Mars flyby and gravity-assist.
